I love SOUTH PARK

Why Do I Love It?

South Park has some of the most disgusting and gross jokes that I have ever seen in any comedy ive watched, but every once in a while, they will make episodes that are really meaningful and make these characters some of my favorites out of any show ive watched. This show IS a character based comedy, but I think that it goes beyond that, creating depth with its characters in ways that I think can be relatable and interesting. It sometimes will tell a message that can really resonate with the characters in a way that can make you rethink how you view somethings, even when its the most random bullshit. Even goes into ways these certain events of the show still affect the characters in other episodes, which sounds simple but I don't think it is common in these type of comedy shows. I think it helps that the show has been going on for so long that the creators of the show decided to go a different route involving continuity during its run. Its cool to see the same crass show be so meaningful, comprehensive, and funny all at once sometimes.

Extra Rambling

The episode Put It Down sits with me a lot. The summary of the plot is Tweek is having a meltdown about the fear of North Korea coming to attack the United States, and then later on believes that they are going to get him specifically. You get to see Tweek and his boyfriend Craig handle this situation differently from one another, which btw Craig doesnt think they are going to attack at all and stays calm about it. But Tweak doesnt like having these constant push downs and comments, to him it makes Craig come off like he doesnt care about his feelings, when Craig was actually only trying to be reassuring. You get to see Craig in this episode learn that not everyone is looking for answers and are more looking for support and validation and at the end you have a sweet moment where Craig comes back and supports Tweak rather than try to rationalize it all. If I am being honest, I relate more to Tweak because I am a emotional person and can overreact, but this potrayal of this situation with other people, even for how rediculous it is was nice and accurate, I appreciate that from the show.
